Liz Knowles, Niwel Tsumbu, Niall Vallely - Sun Lines - pre-order

Sun Lines connect Cork, Kentucky and Kinshasa in a unique creative collaboration. This is music created with a sense of openness and curiosity reflecting the different musical and geographic backgrounds of the musicians.

This project centres on an exceptional trio of musicians that was originally put together for a highly successful Music Network tour of Ireland in May 2023. The trio brings together stellar fiddle and hardingfele player Liz Knowles from Kentucky, masterfully elegant Congolese guitarist-vocalist Niwel Tsumbu, and Irish concertina master and TG4 Gradam Ceoil composer of the year  Niall Vallely. Their genre-defying sound brings together elements from traditional music from Ireland, the Congo and Scandinavia, Classical music, contemporary music and Jazz. 

The musical origins of this project were all about three musicians from diverse backgrounds sitting down and finding a way to communicate musically. 

“When we came together in early 2023 we found that we all shared a curiosity in each other’s music and creativity. This brought us on a path to finding a shared language that reflects our own unique musical backgrounds while not sounding like a fusion of diverse genres. We all value the importance of openness as a way of exploring the rich traditions that we have inherited and as a way of finding a new collective voice.”

This album will be released on Sept 4th and orders will be shipped after that.
